During our Summer Camp programs, children have the opportunity to participate in our nationally recognized horsemanship program that has been accredited by the Camp Horsemanship Association. Not only will riders be supervised by some of the most awesome wranglers in the country, but also they will experience programming that will increase their horsemanship skills and build their riding confidence.
Launch Camp
Launch Camp kids will come to horses one time per week. Each camper will be lead through a relay race that usually involves them or their counselors getting wet! We have a blast. No camper leaves without a smile.
Sky 1
Along with all the other activities that are included in your tuition, Sky 1 campers may participate in a horseback riding experience for two days for an additional fee.
- Day 1 - Arena Games. These activities are designed to teach campers the basics of how to ride a horse on their own while providing a fun, safe, and exciting experience. Games are played under wrangler supervision in a round pen, and campers are instructed on how to control their horse themselves. Vaulting is always a favorite among our campers. Our Belgium draft horse, Mike, is used to teach campers to do tricks on the back of a horse. This experience boosts the rider’s self-confidence and will be talked about long after their week of camp is over.
- Day 2 - Rodeo Relay Races. Kids will have a blast competing in relay races on horseback. Our wrangler staff is well-known for their creative, fun, and intense games on horseback.
Sky 2
The Sky 2 horsemanship is designed to be a step up in difficulty and activities from their Sky 1 experience, while still providing a safe environment for all. One day will be spent on a trail ride allowing the students to test out controlling the horse by themselves in an environment that is more open and free than a round pen. Each ride will go through woods, on hills, in wide open range and will last approximately one hour from beginning to end. The other day is spent on obstacle courses specific to each group’s riding ability. Campers will have to guide their horse through, over, and between the obstacles. Upon completion campers feel they have truly begun to master the art of horseback riding. Additional fee applies.
Sky 3
As the campers get older each horse activity is designed to provide a more challenging experience. Sky 3 campers ride all four days of horses. Over the four-day period, campers participate in trail riding, obstacle courses and a real cattle drive. But the most popular Sky 3 event is our arena day. Campers race through a barrel and pole bending patterns. Wranglers not only teach campers the patterns, but will give them instruction that will make them better riders. This allows the campers to experience a bit of real rodeo life. Additional fee applies.
Sky 4
Sky 4 is always a fun group for both the wranglers and the campers. Due to smaller group sizes each group is set up based on the specific camper’s desires. If a camper wants to learn about barrel racing it can be taught all week and often the campers will be able to use the skills learned during horsemanship in our Thursday night rodeo. Campers can also learn to rope or sort cattle like true cowboys. The awesome part of Sky 4 is that we have some freedom to tailor the activities to the camper’s individual interests. Additional fee applies.
